French 8 Day Lucky Horseshoe Shelf Clock & Horseshoe Shelf Barometer c.1880s

Fabulous lucky horseshoe shelf or table clock and barometer.  The brass cases are in good condition and both the clock and the barometer are in good working order.  The cases are 12 cm wide x 12.5 cm high x 7 cm deep.  The dials are 8.8 cm in diameter and have bevelled glass.  The enamel dials are in good condition, the clock dial has a small chip at 10 o'clock as can be seen in the pictures.  The barometer dial has some age dust and is signed 'French Made'.  The brass cases have aging as can be seen in the pictures.

They weigh 1 kg 315 grams together.

Outstanding La Majolique Wasmuel Clock & Vases Geometrical Deco Design c.1920-30

An outstanding wonderful rare pure Deco clock & vase set signed 'MW S.A. La Majolique, Wasmuel' on the 3 bases.

The set is in very good all original condition and the clock is in very good working order.   It is handworked, stamped & numbered with the # 564.  The clock is 36 cm wide x 28 cm high x 9 cm deep.  The silver dial is 18.7 cm x 18.7 cm, and has a mottled design (it has one scratch in silver as can be seen in the pictures).  The vases are 24 cm high. 

It is rare to find such a wonderful clock complete with the 2 side vases in such good condition.

Complication Skeleton Clock

This is a highly collectable skeleton complication clock in very good condition and working order. It has three separate dials, the top one being the seconds hand sweep, the middle being the hour and the lower dial being the day.  It is a replica of an early 17th Century clock.  We have never come across such an interesting and superb piece of horological history.

The clock with glass dome is 21 cm high x 15.5 cm in diameter at the wooden base.  The actual clock is 14 cm high, the dials are each 4.7 cm in diameter.  The detachable side winder is for clock movement, the top back winder is for setting the time and the lower back winder is for setting the day/date. It has just been fully cleaned and serviced.

Woodford Clock Co. Mechanical 8 Day Striking Mantel Clock

This is a Woodford solid wood mechanical 8 day mantel clock made in England.  This clock is in very good condition and working order.  The clock has a fine quality solid brass 8 day Hermle platform movement. It has a "Ting Tang" twin Chime, full chime (strike) on the hour and one strike on the half hour.    The beautifully crafted mahogany finish case is 21 cm high x 18.5 cm wide x 8 cm deep with brass bunn feet. The champagne coloured dial  with roman numerals is 11.5 cm in diameter. There are marks around the key holes, as can be seen in the pictures, which do not detract from the overall look of the clock.  It has it's own key. It weighs 1 kg 483 grams.

This is a beautiful Victorian drum head mantel clock with striking French movement.  Striking on the hour and half hour.  The stylish ebonised and mahogany case is 21 cm high x 32 cm wide x 12.7 cm deep.  The enamel dial is 9 cm in diameter. Keinzle 8 Day Bauhaus Period Shelf or Desk Clock c.1930s

A pure Bauhaus period shelf or desk clock made by Kienzle in very good condition and working order.  This is a rare design with inlaid panels on either side and a beautiful sunburst design on the dial.   It has highly stylised minute and hour hand with Roman numerals which show a strong influence of the Bauhaus period as can be seen in the pictures.
These designs are extremely hard to find and this design is very much sought after by collectors and interior designerss.
It has an 8 day movement in excellent condition and has just been cleaned and serviced.  It keeps very good time.
The case is 18.5 cm long at the base x 13.5 cm high.  The dial is 11.5 cm x 11.5 cm and is signed 'Keinzle, 8 Day'.
Kienzle was among the top clock manufacturers of the period.  Their clocks were superb examples of design and perfection.

A beautifully designed pure Nouveau boudoir clock with stylish orchids on the front.  The enamel dial is signed 'Man'f'd by Ansonia Clock Co U.S.A.' and is 6.2 cm (62mm) in diameter.  There are 2 hairlines between the 5 and the centre chapter which do not detract from this wonderful clock.  The brass frame is 17.5 cm high x 14 cm wide x approx 6 cm deep (just under 7" high x 5½ x approx 2¼" deep).  The back of the movement is signed 'Pat. April 23d 1878, Made in the United States of America'.  This clock has just been fully serviced.  The stand has been replaced.

Art Nouveau Dep White Marble Clock c.1920s

This is a very stylish pure Art Nouveau small white marble clock.  It is 16.2 cm high x 10 cm wide x 5 cm deep.  The dial is 5 cm in diameter and is signed 'Dep, Fabrication Française, Made in France'.  This clock has a 30 to 40 hour movement and is in working order.

Durée, Elégance, Précision - durability, elegance, precision - the marketing words used in DEP clocks advertisements in the 1920's and 30's. The brand DEP came from the family name Dépéry who were well-established clockmakers as well as clock parts manufacturers and flourished between 1826 and 1954. Emphasis was placed on the use of "noble' materials such as marble, chrome and brass and the styling was very geometric.

This is a fine quality HAC Junghans 8 day pendulum clock in good all original condition.  The fine mahogany case is 29 cm high including the floral arrangement finial x 21 cm wide x 9 cm deep.  The dial is approximately 6 cm in diameter, it has some aging (which does not detract for the overall look of the clock).  It has a very unusual band of brass columns mounted on wood which adds to the beautiful design of this handsome clock. There is a slight dent in the wood as can be seen in the pictures.  It has the original key.

The Amazing Flying Pendulum Clock - String & Ball Pendulum

This amazing clock is in good condition and working order.  This is an identical copy of the original which was invented in 1883 (see below).  This was a limited edition made between 1965 & 1975. The string pendulum flies from one post to the other.  It has a mahogany case with brass claw feet and brass decorations.  This is a novelty clock and as such is not very accurate but is a real talking point.  It is 26.5 cm high (including pendulum) x 17 cm wide x 8 cm deep (at the feet).  The dial is 8 cm in diameter.

The original flying pendulum clock (shown above) was invented, and patented, by Christian Clausen of Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1883. Clausen described it as "the craziest clock in the world" due to the motion of the tetherball style escapement with a ball and string. It was originally sold by the New Haven Clock Company (under the Jerome & Co. name) for about a year (1884-1885). It is reported that these clocks were sold to Jewellery stores to display in their windows to attract the attention of passing shoppers.

It got the name "Ignatz" from Dr. Rowell (a noted clock collector) in 1935. Dr. Rowell felt this clock had the personality of Ignatz, the mouse in the old Krazy Kat comic strip. The name stuck as it is still called this today. The original New Haven Flying Pendulum clocks are quite rare. This reproduction was manufactured by the Horolovar Company between 1965 and 1975. The movement was made in Germany and was cased at Horolovar in Bronxville, NY.

This is a classic clock in all original condition.  The enamel dial is 8.2 cm and is in very good all original condition.  The oak case is 30.2 cm high x 14 cm deep x 21.3 cm wide.  The movement and the gong support both have the crossed arrows trademark of the Hamburg American Clock Company or HAC. The pendulum movement strikes on the hour and 1/2 hour.

HAC was formed in Germany in 1873 by Paul Landenberger and Phillip Lang. The initial company was known as Landenberger & Lang Uhrenfabrik.  Landenberger was the son-in-law of Erhard Junghans and worked at Junghans for some years before starting up his company. His company was involved in the production of clock movements, clock parts, dials and cases for all types of clocks. The company changed it's name to Hamburg Amerikanische Uhrenfabrik and Hamburg American Clock Company (HAC) in 1883. The famous crossed arrows became their trademark in 1892 at which time the company started producing clocks such as Mantel clocks, longgcase clocks, wall clocks, ships clocks and specialized industrial clocks. These clocks were mainly for export to particularly to Great Britain and North America. They also continued supplying decorative parts for example: dials, cases, spare parts and hardware for the clock industry. The company was a major producer of clocks in Germany. In 1930 they merged with Junghans.

This is a handsome walnut cased mantel clock in excellent condition and working order.  It has a quartz movement.  The case is made in England.  The dial pictures a country squire with his two hunting dogs with a lake in the distance.  The chapter has floral designs in the four corners and is 7.8 cm in diameter and is signed 'Ewd. Dillon, Waterford'.  The case is 19 cm high (including the brass feet) x 12.5 cm wide x 7.2 cm deep and is signed on the base 'Case Made in England'.
