Victoria Cross Gallery

These are superb high quality scraps by the famous Victorian military artist HARRY PAYNE

Original scraps from the period (c.1880s/1890s) in good condition. They are all approximately 16 cms x 12 cms.

They all have the Harry Payne signature near the bottom right hand corner.

"Trooper J. Doogan of the 1st (Kings) Dragoon Guards who, altho' wounded himself, on seeing his superior officer, Major Brownlow, fall to the ground, gallantly, dismounted and implored him to take his horse, under a most galling fire."

Afghan War - Battle of Mainland 27th July 1880

"Box mounted the driver's horses and galloped the gun out of action,  with the enemy a few yards off"

(One creased head on the top left side has been repaired at the neck)
