Parkinson & Frodsham Silver Half Hunter fully
hallmarked c.1889
A superb and extremely rare silver cased half hunter
pocket watch by Parkinson & Frodsham, fully hallmarked. This
half hunter pocket watch is in very good all original condition and
working order. The enamel dial 40 mm in diameter, signed 'Parkinson &
Frodsham, London' and is in excellent condition. The silver
case is hallmarked 'London 1889'. The movement is fully signed
'Parkinson & Frodsham, Change Alley, Cornhill, London' with the serial
number 6872. The serial number is also on the case.
Price: £1,950
Parkinson & Frodsham were renowned for the finest
quality movements and are an important part of the history of the London
watchmakers.
PARKINSON & FRODSHAM Change Alley London (founded 1801)
The
firm of Parkinson and Frodsham produced some of the finest pocket
watches. William Parkinson of which little is known is believed to
have gone to London from Prescott. This is a place where he would have
learnt the skills of a watch/chronometer maker. William James Frodsham
came from the well known family of horologists and at the age of 23
years he went into partnership with Parkinson. They built a successful
business in Change Alley and Frodsham had ten children of whom six
became watchmakers.

Gold Plated Full Hunter Swiss Split
Second Chronograph c.1880
This is a Swiss minute
recording split seconds chronograph in a gold plated full hunter case.
The dial and movement are in excellent condition and working order.
This chronograph has a
keyless movement with flyback center seconds and minute recording chrono.
The white enamel dial with Roman numerals has subsidiaries for a
continuous seconds and 30 minute register. It has blue steel hands.
The flyback chronograph is
operated by pressing a button on the side, the dual split seconds by
another button on the same side. Swiss made, c. 1880. The case has
like a coined edge as can be seen in the picture. The case has a clear
unused shield on the front and is in very good condition.

Webster Chronograph Pocket Watch c.1920s
This is a chronograph pocket watch made by
the Swiss complicated watch specialist, "Le Phare" and retailed by the
English jewellers "Webster". Dating from 1920s. It has a sterling
silver case with hinged bezel, back and inner dust cover. The back
decorated with engine turned decoration. There is a button in the centre
of winding crown which starts, stops and resets the chronograph. The
inside back is stamped with the English import hallmark corresponding to
the year 1919. The dust cover is engraved with a presentation
inscription dated 1932. The case diameter is 50.5mm.
It has a white enamel
dial 45 mm in diameter with dual registers, a subsidiary second dial and
a chronograph 30 minute register. It has black Roman numerals and
outer chronograph second chapter, divided into 5ths of a second.
It is signed, "Webster Stop Watch". It has blue steel hands. There is a
hairline crack between the centre of the bottom dial to 5 o'clock and
another near the edge at 11 o'clock, they are both hardly noticeable to
the naked eye and do not detract from the rarity of the watch.

Omega Silver Cased Pocket Watch c.1912 A silver cased
enamel dial Omega pocket watch. This Omega pocket watch is in good
condition and working order. The movement is signed 'Omega' with
the serial number 4142548. The silver case is fully hallmarked and the
dust cover has the 'Grand Prix Paris 1900' medals. The case has
small dents on the bottom right and left sides which are hardly
noticeable. There is a small hair line between the 3 & 4 which are
hardly noticeable to the naked eye. The dial is 42 mm in diameter.

dial is signed 'Elgin' and is 45mm in diameter. There are red
minute chapter around the outer edge of the dial and black 24 hour

20th Century. It is in good all original condition and
working order. The keyless wind movement c. 1910 is fully marked
with the serial number 7283451, U.S. Pat. 2 May - 1904, 4 adjustments,
Swiss, 15 Jewels, Tavannes Watch co., 613 3 5. The
screwback is engraved on the inside 'Empress, A.W.C.C. Co. 1467335, #16

serviced and is in very good condition and working order. The
enamel dial 40mm in diameter, signed 'Longines'. The movement is

is signed 'Longines, Grand Prix Paris 1900', the inside of the back
cover has the same serial number as has the inside of the dust cover.

S. Smith & Sons was founded by Samuel Smith who was an expert jewellery
and watch maker in 1851. His London firm
became
the leader for high-quality and complicated watches at the end of the
19th. Century and during the opening decades of the 20th. Century.
They made top quality watches & pocket watches and was chosen to become
a supplier to the Admiralty.

French L'Auto Advertising Car clock c.1903 An unusual and
extremely rare French car clock in good condition and working order.
Made to advertise L'Auto which is the French magazine that started
the Tour de France. It has a brass case with a ball shaped back which
has a small dent. The dial (40 mm in diameter) is in very good
clean condition and is signed 'Lisez Tous L'Auto' & at the bottom
of the dial 'France'. It has just been cleaned and fully serviced.

made for an English retailer as a railway watch in a nickel open face
case. It has a mechanical movement with going barrel and is in good
condition and working order. The white enamel dial is signed
' Winegarten's 145 Bishopsgate London EC2, Swiss Made'.
It has subsidiary seconds, Roman numerals,
blue steel hands. Plain nickel open face case, solid body with screw on
bezel. On the back of the case a depiction of a steam locomotive in an
oval cartouche and inscribed "Winegarten's Railway Regulator". The
dial is 47 mm in diameter and the case has 58 mm in diameter.

Hardy Brothers 8 Day Goliath Pocket
Watch c.1905 This goliath pocket watch has been cleaned and
serviced. It is a in very good condition and working order.
The enamel dial (5.9 cms) has several very fine hairline cracks which
are not noticeable to the naked eye (even with the magnifier they are
difficult to see). The name on the dial has faded "Hardy Bros.
Ltd., Sidney & Brisbane". The movement is numbered 106119.
"After arriving in Australia from
Nottinghamshire England, Mr John Hardy commenced trading as Hardy
Brothers from his rooms in Jamison Street, Sydney in 1853. During 1855
John Hardy opened a showroom in Hunter Street that became the home of
Hardy Brothers for over 80 years.
Following the success of the business in Sydney, including the
introduction of silver plate ware and silver cutlery to Australia, Hardy
Brothers opened a showroom at 116 Queen Street, Brisbane in 1894,
followed in 1918 by the opening of the Melbourne showroom located at 298
Collins Street.
Hardy Brothers, Silversmiths by Appointment to the Queen is the only
holder of a
Royal Warrant in Australia. They are also the manufacturer of the
Melbourne Cup"

Doxa Goliath Enamel Dial Pocket Watch c.1900 Antique
Swiss goliath pocket watch made by Doxa in good all original condition
and working order. This large pocket watch was produced around
1900. Due to their size, these large pocket watches were mostly
used as travel clocks and for display in shop windows. They were
produced in very small amounts more as show pieces which is why they are
quite rare. It is very difficult to find a goliath watch in good
condition and working order, especially with a perfect enamel dial.
This Doxa goliath pocket watch has a white enamel dial and blue steel
hands. The dial has a diameter of 60 mm. The case excluding
winder is 66 mm and the movement 51 mm. The movement is signed 'Doxa,
Swiss Made' and the inner dust cover is numbered 726376. It has an
Argentain case.
